The Amazing Stephen Curry

In mainly the United States, but also the whole world there are many amazing athletes that perform night after night. It is hard to compare athletes from different sports but almost every person has their own favorite athlete. Athlete’s appeal to different audiences by their own athleticism, their swag, and even the success of their team and that is why we all have different opinions. . I happen to love basketball so my favorite athlete is a basketball player.  My favorite athlete in all professional sports is Stephen Curry.
Stephen Curry is the best point-guard in the NBA and one of the greatest shooters in the sport’s history. Many shooters are one-faceted players in the league but Stephen is one of the best all-around players in the entire league. Not only does he shoot lights out, he has some of the best passing and dribbling moves in the entire league. He also rebounds the ball very well for a point guard.  This NBA season he is among the top two candidates for the most valuable player race, got the most all-star votes in the league, and won the three-point competition
For me and many others, we love to watch Curry play because of his swag and unique playing style. He keeps everyone on their toes because you never know what he will do with the ball in his hand. One minute he makes a flashy between-the-leg or behind-the-back pass, then he will pull up for practically half court and then will somehow get an amazing steal on the other end of the floor. Out of all the players in the league, he gets on the National Basketball Association’s top ten plays more than anyone else in the league.
He is a very special player because his ability to score such a high quantity of points, but also involve everyone else on the team in order to achieve his goal at playing point-guard. So far this year he is averaging 23.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and shoots an astonishing ninety percent from the free throw line. At different points this year he led the league in rebounds for a point-guard and the best percentage from the charity stripe.
What also makes him special is his role that he plays in the community of the court. He himself, like most professional athletes does a lot of charity work with different organizations. In his last few seasons he has done the three for three challenge, for every three pointer he makes he donates three dollars to the United Nations Foundation's, Nothing But Nets. He has also visited Tanzania in Africa, to deliver mosquito nets to help save the citizens from getting infectious diseases from mosquitos. Last NBA season, Stephen won the NBA season long Kia Community Assist Award, which goes to the player who does the most charitable work. Curry’s humble personality helps him do charity work because he loves to help make the world a better place and try and give everyone the fair and equal opportunities he has received.

To conclude, Stephen Curry is my favorite professional athlete for many reasons. I love him because he is the best point guard in a very talented league; he also plays with swag and is one of the flashiest passers as well as a knock down shooter. Not that his work on the court isn’t enough, his work for many different charities makes it hard not to be impressed. Stephen Curry is just….well….amazing.

Sacking the Super Bowl by Steve Almond Review

Steve Almond's article Sacking the Super Bowl  is definitely a new perspective of the game. Throughout the article he added many surprising points about the NFL. The main point of the article is to convince people in the United States not to watch football anymore. Many of his points, such as how the NFL does not pay any taxes and that it is a legal monopoly, help prove that there are reasons why we should not watch any of their programs. He also described the percentage of football players who have brain problems after they retire. I, like many others, play football and love the game, and to us none of his points will stop me from watching the game I love. As a football player, we understand the risk of injuries and that they are very common but we all continue to play because we love the game. As I have grown up, my coaches have always told me ''play every play like it is your last'' and that is exactly what we do. NFL athletes are the same way, they know the risk, that one hit could change their life dramatically. Almond supplies us with many supporting arguments but I know this will not sway the great majority of people in the United states opinion to watch America's most beloved game, "Football".
